« on: June 15, 2015, 20:12:36 »
1/2 mile from work  ..it cut out showed check and was dead...?
Checked side stand and off switch ... Then fuses..ignition 10w gone ..replaced tried and it went again.. Tried 15w again went so what might make it fuse ? ..did wash it yesterday ..suppose might be the old loom issue? Any ideas greatfully received?

The most likely reason for a blown fuse is a wire chafed against the frame. The second most likely is a bad connection getting hot, melting the insulation and touching another wire.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Thanks ..GW ..appreciate your advice .. Will start a search ..as the fuse blew immediately I replaced it ..it must be something arcing out ? though I didn't check the clutch switch .. It must be an electrical current causing the fuse to actually blow me thinks

A better way of testing the loom is to connect a headlight bulb in place of the fuse. You can then wiggle the loom around until the bulb lights up, which will indicate a short.

This is both easier and cheaper than sacrificing several fuses... :)

Hmm... considering the potential cause being the loom, I'd not do too much on it before using the warranty. Changing the wiring loom isn't a fun job.

Not good ..main dealer it was towed to cannot look at it for 10 days ..all booked up Mate ...why call me Mate ? So wait 10 days before they even find it was something simple ..or worse 10 days till they then start thinking of ordering the possible  faulty bit to only wait more till they appear and we find it wasn't that so order something else?.. ? What do we think of Suzuki service? ...see this scenario being an epic ... :angry- :neen: tappingfoot:
