Dyno results
« on: June 11, 2015, 20:58:26 »
Today my wee k9 has been down to projex in cradley heath for a run on the dyno. Main reason I fitted a K&N filter and it seemed to of lost some of the top end power. The bike has done 20600 miles so would also be nice to find out if the factory power figures were still there which is 63.5bhp and 41.2lbft. I think the factory figures are measured at the crank so apparently at the back wheel it's normally 10% less..So the results. The first two runs showed the clutch was starting to slip at about 8,000 but on the third run it didn't which was a bit strange. But explains the top end power loss. Well at the back wheel it made 60.58bhp @ 9142.2rpm and 38.4lb/ft @6937rpm.
Working on the 10% difference its making a bit more power than Suzuki claim. The only mod so far is the k&N filter. fuelling was pretty much spot on just a little rich on the top end. So I'm well chuffed with these figures.

It's nice to see the evidence, even if tells you what you suspected. What does it cost to have a dyno done? p.m. me if you're shy (and then I'll tell everyone) :) .

Don't have your bike put on a dyno. if you're of a nervous disposition. Seeing your pride and joy being red lined several times can be quite upsetting. I've seen bikes taken right up to the rev limiter to get full graphs. Saw a Ducati 916 expensively spit it's engine internal all over the floor at Brands when repeatedly run very hard.

All it costs is £30 for a check. Kev's a genuine bloke, they run a gas analyser during the run to check the fueling. He does three power runs.  I had no concerns with it being taken to the redline. he never went into the red. No reason to I suppose when you see the power start to drop off. Told me the engine was sweet apart from the clutch slipping. If I can work out how to do it I'll put the video on youtube and post a link. http://www.projex-uk.co.uk/

£30.00 is money well spent and very reasonable. I love dyno's I do.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.
