New Handlebars - bike won't start!
« on: June 05, 2015, 17:34:46 »
Hi All,

I recently fitted some new renthal bars (bike fell over causing a nice bend in the original stock bars!), all went well, new bars fitted and everything is back where it should be but now the bike doesn't start!!

Before I start poking around and causing more problems are there some basic checks I can do to troubleshoot this?

I didn't take the ignition button housing box apart as it just slid off the old bars after loosening the screws....I did hit the kill switch at one point but its definitely off now

The battery has plenty of charge too, feel like I am missing something really obvious here!

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Check the clutch switch under the lever. Usually the first suspect.

+1 for the clutch switch. Look at that before anything else.

May be obvious but the kill switch. It has been known. Just saying

Clutch switch won't give a clue. Kill switch will display a CHEC and the fuel pump won't start.

At what speed did the bike "fall over" causing them to bend? :)

it was stationary, got back from holiday and it had clearly been on its side, later found out from a neighbour that on a windy day the cover came off and pulled the bike over like a big spinnaker!

Who would have thought they would have bent so easily? Never mind, it was a good excuse to fit Renthals.
