Glee - considering selling her
« on: September 13, 2014, 16:13:41 »
I am considering selling my Glee it is a  2013 AL 2 DL650

It is  5 March 2013 registered bike. It has 8,800 miles with Suzuki FSH.

If I sell it privately the book price tells me for a good it should be £4,610. It is in excellent order. It has a few more miles than some.

It has:

scottoiler,
Oxford heated grips
Suzuki hand guards
Suzuki sump guard
Suzuki centre stand
MRA dark tint touring screen
Givi monokey top plate with an almost new 48 litre Kappa top box
Givi monokey pannier racks (but no panniers supplied)
New front tyre

I am the 2nd owner and got it from Carlisle KC bikes in April 2014 . I did a deal with them to part ex my old 2008 Wee. The condition of the Glee cosmetically is 10 out of 10 it is immaculate.

I live in West Sussex between Bognor and Worthing on the coast.

It is in apple pie order but the miles are higher than average. But as a tourer I'd expect more miles than a Gixxer  :)

I am thinking of selling as I am a mature biker who is struggling with the weight of the Glee. I have a weak lower back (and some pain to go with it) and sadly as an older biker I'm concerned this may get worse.

Literally a ''pain'' in the back and also the bum ! I love my Glee and am loathe to sell but am concerned about my health and well being long term.

If you might be interested just  PM me. At the moment I am just considering selling and I haven't advertised it on ''Bike Trader'' yet.  If I don't sell I'm not bothered as she'll be in the garage all the autumn/winter anyway. So no pressure my end.

I may take medical advice and if my back improves I shall be in the saddle again. But I may be buying a lower to the ground bike that suits my needs a bit better than my Glee.

I want to sell (assuming I do) at a fair price and the book price seems to be fair to me? It is not in average condition; I would class it as ''good'' if not excellent condition, the only thing that it has against it is the mileage, but it is 18 months old now, so for a tourer this could be arguably be ''average'' miles anyway?

Dave

It has more miles on it now.......

That's exceptionally tidy, it's hardly run in too. Anyone who knows Stroms will know that kind if mileage is nothing on these :thumb:

Juvecu,

thanks for that. She is immaculate and a lovely bike.

If someone comes along with £4,400 I'd be very tempted  :thumb:

Just message me if you want to view.

Was and still am considering going back to the Hinckley Bonneville. A lower bike and now I don't need an all year round bike either, like my old Wee was and my Glee was going to become.

So I rang up Riders of Bristol and some wise bloke gets back to me with a part ex value on my 2013 Glee......''We'd give you £3,000.'' I said thank you very much and put the phone down.

It's a jungle out there.

Oh and HE thinks 8,500 miles '' is a bit high on the miles'' - it's a tourer for goodness sakes!!!! :shy:  :angry-tappingfoot:

Dealers have offered me £200 or even less for a bike that runs sweet as with 50k.

There is a whole list of reasons why I don't use dealers for parts, workshop , sales or information as generally these are the shit parts of their operational ability. Their coffee making skills are usually top notch!

If you want to sell her, put her up in the for sale section as a sale not just a 'I'm thinking of selling' as most of us that will view that sort of thread will have one and want to talk you out of it. You want to grab the attention of a guest browsing looking at a possible purchase of a strom.

If anyone has contact with this forum member, prompt him to read his forum personal messages.
If he had done, my money and his bike would have probably changed places by now,  :thumb:

That is an option you can set within your Control Panel.

I'm at the very early stager of pondering 'how much will buy what' on the glee market (and not actually in a position to purchase atm) but I'm just wondering if you still have the bike for sale???
