removing speedo from wee
« on: November 09, 2014, 20:15:34 »
I have noticed recently that my speedo has condensation in it. Before electrical gremlins rear their heads I want to remove the instruments and reseal them. My question is has anyone done this and how do I go about removing the black plastic surround as it seems to be secured well by bolts? I cannot see.
Many thanks
Henry

They aren't sealed :D the plastic just overlaps. I did a video showing how to fit the GPI I make, in there you'll see how to get the clocks apart

http://raceratb.com/austin/car/gaugeInstructions.htm shows how to get at the speedo. There are plastic "spears" in the clock surround that fit into rubber grommets. Some force is needed to pop them out. #14 is one grommet shown in space that actually is fitted in the #1 frame. It is just below its "spear". There is a "spear" and grommet on each side. As far as the plastic rivets are concerned, press the center in to unlock. http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,10928.0.html
