Broken down
« on: September 25, 2014, 18:48:14 »
It seems the Bike mag Veek  has blown a shock and needed a new fuel pump on its way through Mongolia. I know Suzuki would like a slice of the GS pie but that's taking it too far :)
If you think you can, or you think you can't, either way; you're right.

Didn't the GS's on long way down go through 3 shocks between them?

to be honest over that distance I think a shock and fuel pump is fair, it could have been a lot worse ie flywheel or electrics  :fix:

Not to mention a GS on the longway round needed its frame welding..Stick with a DRZ for "serious" off roading!

Article in Bike did say fuel pump failure likely due to crap dirty fuel used and not outright  mechanical failure

Most bikes will have problems in those conditions, I don't think any of us seriously think it's a full blown adventure bike anyway. I still love my 1000 for the great long distance tourer it is.

If your doing serious long distance off roading you will do the Dakar and they have a team servicing their bikes every night !!

With Suzuki making it clear the Veek is not an off road bike. I wonder if they are paving the way for a true off roader?Ducati now have their retro scrambler!
