First impressions on new bike
« on: September 05, 2014, 13:50:23 »
Just got my new bike. Today's ride was from the dealer to my house. Left there my Glee as a trade in. Took different roads and few little town's streets, slow traffic, fast lanes... All that in arround 50 miles. Here are my impressions, compared with known issues for this bike, from few forums:

Snatchy Throttle:
It doesn't feel any different then it was on my Glee. If you take in account that now you're riding a bike with different gearing, all is good. When I say different gearing, I mean what was 3rd on Glee, on Vee2 is 2nd. Some slower roundabaouts that I'd do in 2nd on Glee without clutch, on Vee2 I have to do in 1st or in 2nd slipping the clutch. But I don't find it wrong. Just keep in mind you're riding bigger bike and all is good.

Clutch Lever:
This one is a bit hard for me but the fault is mine. On all of my previous bikes I had clutch lever biting closer to bars. Too many years like that and now I have problem. This is my first bike with hydraulic clutch with no adjustment. The lever has adjustment between 1 and 4. I put it on 4 but it's still way too far for me. There is nothing I can do about it. I just have to train new biting point.

Idle Hammer:
Still to early to say anything, the bike is brand new.

Handling:
It's much more planted then my Glee was. I took Vee2 out of the dealer with tyres that I swapped from my Glee, as I have new Michelin Pilot Road 4 front and back, and OEM ones left there for dealer to mount them on Glee. So, it's on same tyres but feels much more planted. Love it!!

Indicators Switch:
It's just like some other owners said. Much harder then was on Glee. Left one just needs harder push to turn off but left one fails to turn off many times. There is one exact angle of pushing the switch to cancel. Any other angle, you're pushing but it doesn't cancel. So, left one a bit hard, right one hard and not canceling easily.

RPM's:
My Glee would feel very unhappy and jerky anything bellow 3.000 rpm. This one is OK down to 2.500 rpm. I don't ride bellow 3.000 anyway.

So, that's it for the first day. Now off to garage to install top box, mirrors, horns and indicators buzzer. No other accessories have arrived yet (Arrow Exhaust, Givi Crashbars, Givi Airflow, Side Stand Foot, Handlebars Risers, Givi Rear Hugger, 1000 Decals...). The bike came with Suzuki Under Cowling and Suzuki Hand Guards.

Cheers bosnjo! Enjoy! Interesting about the tyre comparison, bet that's not been done before! :)

Just to add...
OEM screen is killing me, but that's what I was expecting. Done 200 miles today on country lanes and it was real hard. I hope my Givi Airflow arrives this week. I had great experience with it on my Glee. I'm 6'2,5 with 34' inseam and OEM screen is not the solution.

Quick question bosnjo: what seat you got?

I demoed a Veek with the high seat and (at 6') the screen/buffeting was literally a headache after 10-15 miles at 80mph (indicated) on the dualler. Less so with the stock seat. Stromtrooper site seems to put the airflow as the answer, interested to hear how that goes for you.

I also found the Veek preferred a gear lower than the glee. I was expecting to be able to leave it in fourth or fifth and just roll the throttle to suit...

It came with standard stock seat. I guess Suzuki tests their bikes with japanese riders, not taller europeans. I had the same experience with my Glee. First OEM screen, then Puig Touring Screen (worse), then MRA Touring with laminar lip (no buffeting but horrible wind noise), then finally Givi Airflow solved all of my problems.

You will find with time that on 3rd gear you can go at less than 3000rpm without so much problems (riding at 30km/h or more).
Using the right gear will let you to get a better MPG.
They are very different than wee/glee gears.

Yes, 600 miles and I'm already noticing what you said. Initial MPG was horrible and with stock screen I couldn't hear the engine and was riding it in higher rpm's then needed. MPG is getting better and better every day, Givi Airflow is installed and bike is getting less nervous on lower rpm's. First service is next week and I hope I won't suffer from Idle Hammer issue. My Arrow Exhaust without db killer will hide that sound, I preffer not knowing if it was there.
