No particular pitfalls or quirks. Many Vee owners find that lowering the gearing improves the bike all round with no downsides. Standard should be 17/41. Either -1 or the gearbox sprocket (16) or +2 on the rear wheel (43). Most owners would suggest avoiding cheap chains and use DID chains and preferably the X ring type. When you take the front sprocket cover off give everything a really good clean, along with the guides on top of and under the swinging arm. Also take the clutch push rod out, clean, re-grease and replace. When the front cover is off the piston in the clutch slave cylinder may work it's way out a bit and you'll need to push it back before putting the cover back. Best of luck.
