Which Tyres for 2013 Vstrom 650A?
« on: July 19, 2014, 20:17:08 »
Hello,

Just wondered if anybody had any suggestions on best Tyres to get? Mine aren't dead yet but just want to start looking around and look at a few reviews.

Anakee 3 (Or Anakee 2 if you can still find them) or Road Pilot 4.

They seem to be the most common ones on here. Depends if you are more road based and how far offroad you want to go.

Metzler Tourance ( the old version will give you a long life). OK on  rougher roads too.

I've had pilot road 1's anakee 2's,  heidenau k60's, tkc80 and now mitas e-09.
Tyre of choice was always the anakee 2. It gripped well (used to get it banked over and be riding on the side wall.) 3's are not my cup of tea as they are far too road biased.
But if a tarmac only tyre is what you are after, the pilot road 3/4 is a safe bet.
The heidenau and mitas options are love/hate things and I'd only recormend them for riding into the unknown. If you get what I mean. Then the tkc80 when you know it gets muddy.

Didn't get on with the tourance on a bike I test rode and every bridgestone tyre I've used has scared the crap out on me when it squeals and slips.
Tyres are a personal thing.

Can't go wrong with Anakee 2, it's perfectly fine on road too. Anakee 3, Pilot Road 3 or 4 for road too. All popular tyres for road use for the Stroms. I've stuck to Anakee 2 since I put them on the first time and I've gone through several sets already. They just keep sticking to the road, very good in the wet and cold weather we see here often and excellent in the dry. Takes road debris in their stride without any issues too.

+ 1 for the Anakee 3's, they really suit the 'strom.
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'
