Tomtom Rider Active Dock rebuild
« on: June 12, 2014, 21:13:00 »
I like the Tomtom Rider but the Docks have been shite since day one   :GRR:

This one lost its springs and then rattled to pieces on the XT660z  :auto-dirtbike:

Handy Spring set from eBay  :thumb:

Equally useful set, I use these as replacement Hinge Pins (with a dab of glue)

New Springs

Hinge Pins going in before being cut to size.

Back in one piece

Back on the Bike   :)

And bloody expensive for what it is! (£60-odd quid, from memory). AND, without wishing to turn this into the moaning old git thread, the bloody USB socket door won't open when the unit is fixed into the standard mount, so you can't charge it from your new DL1000 cigarette lighter socket using an ordinary USB cable! :GRR:

Yes was going to buy an active dock until I read so many issues with it. If mine runs out I will place the tom tom in the top clear part of my tank bag with an extension lead to my 12v socket under my seat. I'm sure most of my trips will be done before the battery will die though.

Fat rat- as you were so kind as to give me some free stickers I may have a spare active mount that's rattled to bits and broken, if I can find it would you be interested in having it ? Just postage cost obviously. Might be of use to you?
