Where's it leaking? If it's out of the seal, an oil seal and dust seal replacement is relatively painless.

Out of the leg... you've got bigger problems! :)

That normally means a bit of grit is lodged in the seal lip. http://sealmate.net/ shows how to fix the problem easily. A seal mate is a good tool but a bit of photography film or other piece of thin plastic will also work. BTW, I've never had a fork seal leak when running fork gaiters. A search on gaiters will return a number of threads here.

Your location says you're near Leicester, if you're not to far from Rugby, let me know if you want to visit me for some help. Just rebuild my forks for the... I've lost count... well, just rebuild them again as part of a restoration. I have all the tools one needs to do it quickly, all you need is a set of new oil and dust seals and a litre of 10W fork oil (that's assuming the bushes aren't completely knackered, but that's usually unlikely.)

It's unlikely a seal replacement is needed. Run a wiper around it first. If you let every fork leak run you into a seal replacement, you're probably working too hard.

Edit: I misread the age of the bike. The period of ownership threw me off.

If something has managed to get past the dust seal to lodge itself in the oil seal to the point where it's leaking then your dust seal is already in need of replacement, it's designed to prevent this. In this case the chances that the oil seal is damaged are high. For the sake of a few quid and some effort I'd rather fix it than faff about 'cleaning' whatever out only to have to fix it properly at a later, likely more inconvenient, time.

That is not always the case. I've seen many reports of leaks disappearing and not coming back after cleaning. It's really worth a try.

When was the last time the forks were serviced ? They are probably due an oil change anyway, a great time to pull them apart and check everything over. As Juv' rightly mentions if the bushes are worn the seals will just keep leaking any way even if you replace them. It's not the end of the world to replace the bushes (did some on a YPVS 350LC ages ago) and not as expensive as you might think.

If the bike has gone from 2005/6 to now with original oil and seals then it's really done well, so getting the forks serviced and fitted with new seals will be money well spent. If you continue to run the bike until the weather breaks, just keep an eye on the leaking seal and keep it clean so that no oil finds it's way onto the brake on that side otherwise you'll have to pay for new pads as well as being potentially dangerous.
