Heat will help but they will come out without heat with the right tools .

I've taken it to a workshop near me - a bloke I trust who has a ramp and better tools. Without heat I was never going to crack the threadlock with the length of spanner / socket I had available.

I've dropped it off to get the subframe part fitted - he thinks he'll get chance later today - and then I'll bolt the sump guard to the subframe and the fitted crash bars later today hopefully. Pics to follow I hope!

all done!

workshop fitted the subframe today - picked it up after work and then fitted the sump guard this evening - Picture with just the bars:

And then later in the garage the sump guard fitted too:

I thought a long time about going black bars / black sump or silver bars & Silver sump - or mixing the two with black bars and silver sump - thinking maybe the silver sump / black bars might have been the better choice to add a bit of brightness to the bottom of the bike - but still they look good eh?

Those are the original SW-Motech made bars. Later ones had another tube between the top and bottom horizontal pieces.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Black looks good and I suspect Silver would too. I wouldn't fancy mixing the two though.
