Re taxing from SORN
« on: September 04, 2013, 09:42:42 »
Hello,

So my bike is currently SORN'd in my mates garage as it has been all summer whilst I've been deployed in Afghanistan. I'm home at the end of the month and natually want to get back on the strom having not ridden since the first week in March.

My folks sorted the SORN out as I ran out of time before heading out here. Can I re-tax out here online or does it need to be via a post office back home?

Cheers,

Ben

You should be able to do it online, but you'll need the long number off the V5 logbook.

Bet you can't wait to get back on the bike.....   :auto-dirtbike:

I'm pretty sure it has to be at the post office. My son sorn'ed his gsxr over the winter and then wanted to tax it and had to go to the post office to do it.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

Yep online, recently SORNed the Strom and read all the blah blah that goes with it and there was nothings saying you have to go to a Post Office to get it taxed again.

Just had to do the same for my GS. You need to put in the reg and the "document reference number"(without spaces). Don't use the numbers in the top right hand corner of the V5. Bike has to have current insurance and mot, both of which are automatically checked when you apply for your tax disc.

I’d love to go back but I mustn’t do that
