Crankcase Scratch Removal
« on: September 05, 2013, 20:31:17 »
Got a scratch on the casing that has the oil filler plug on it. It's about half an inch long and a bit of a visual blot on my pride and joy and you can feel it when you draw your finger nail across it. Any ideas on how to remove it?

try a bit of (clear) nail varnish. Easy enough to remove if it doesn't work.

Is it through the paint to metal or not?

If not then try fine wet & dry (like 1500 fine) to remove then polish.

If it is then really it's a paint job like I did when I started rubbing a section through with my old boots. Chrysler PSS-1 Silverstone grey was the best match I found if you do go this route.

Wait until both cases and the water pump housing corrode then paint it all with Hammerite.
