Yep, bang goes one of our only advantages for sticking out in the crowd, soon we'll just get lost in a sea of daytime lights. Another feather in the cap for the EU, well done.

Oh well.... all this effort and bothering you blokes for nothing ...
All installed, connected via relay and used LED bulbs and after fairly short ride the battery is loosing charge... After short stop struggled to restart it at all. :handgestures-thumbdown:  And now it's all dismounted and will be sold ... another unfulfilled dream is gone....   :crying-blue:  :crying-green:

You didn't leave the ignition on while fitting them did you? If you have led bulbs in should be OK What wattage are the bulbs??

Why ignition would have any effect? The bike was garaged overnight and started OK am but after ride showed signs of poor battery. The LED's are 3.5W each - the link is below..

to be honest they weren't that bright as I anticipated - the main beam was a lot brighter anyway ... bizarre.
You see I'm off to europe in a weeks time and was thinking that those light will make my road brighter - I will be going on many B roads ... even C and D  :)  if such exist  :)

I can't imagine such a draw would make a difference. It could be working on things and checking lights could have run the battery down. A coincidental battery or charging system problem can be involved. Older models have been having problems with magnets coming loose and shifting position on the rotor.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

As greywolf says 0.58 amp draw should not cause you any issues, is it possible you have run the battery down when fitting,  done this my self (only once thou)

But then the question why it fired up OK in morning but then struggled to start it on first stop aprox 15min ride and on the second stop I though I'll have to push... Maybe batteries life is close to end... Had it since 2008/2009... Anyway I've already striped the bike of the wiring and considering the time I spent in first place to install it and the fact that it didn't made any difference it is very unlikely I'll be fitting it back.

Thanks for all your input blokes!
Tried to make Vee stand out of the crowd a wee better and improve visibility - maybe its time to update this version of Vee... :old:
