My Glee's speedo went erratic then stopped working
« on: August 27, 2013, 09:38:40 »
Hi

On a day trip to Bruge yesterday the speedo, whilst cruising at 120 Kmh, dropped, then rose again, then went all random speeds on me. It now sits at 0 no matter what speed I do.

I guess a connector or wire's come loose somewhere, does anyone know where I find it? I see there's a thread about a Wee's speedo but I assume they're different. The bike's only done about 3,000 miles.

Cheers,
Mark

My fazer used to do that if it had a loose battery connection...

I think there's a connection just behind the Speedo clocks - I'm sure someone will confirm/correct me

Before you rip anything apart, remember you still have a long warranty on this bike.

Yep, I've got to ride it all week  and I can't get it to the dealer for a week or so, I just wondered if someone had a quick fix as I don't like riding without a speedo.

I'd take off the front sprocket cover and trace the wire from the sensor as far as possible. Also, I'd see if I can see any loose connectors between the sensor and panel. Otherwise having a GPS is useful for speed information.

Just looked on Stromtrooper forum and someone there reckoned that their -ve battery terminal being loose caused the speedo to read zero.

mine did something similar, and turned out to be the sensor on the front sprocket had come off

Yes, speed sensor on the front sprocket is your first suspect.
