Pre-Load Settings?
« on: September 05, 2013, 11:14:52 »
OK bit late to ask as have had bike two years
But what is the ideal pre-load for a loaded bike around Europe?

I am 19stone and have 3 large givi cases on too.

Also presuming I do need to ramp up the pre-load - is that turning the rear knob clockwise ?

I know it is in the manual but off later today and could just do with a quick bit of advice  :shy:

cheers

Clockwise is higher, more preload on the spring. I turn it up to full when loaded or 2up.
And if you look at the rings near the top of the shock, 2 showing is stock setting and 5 is max preload.
don't get me to describe set up of the damping... we could be here a while... best thing is never touch the damping adjustment unless you know what you are doing.

For best results, Adjust the preload front and rear so the loaded bike uses about 40mm of its suspension travel at each end. http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,7132.0.html
