Advice Needed Please
« on: August 02, 2013, 17:15:22 »
As a complete V Strom novice I'm hoping to get some good advice.
My plan is to buy a new grey coloured L3.
The extras I've proposed and priced (fitted) are:
Heated grips (Oxford)
Hand Guards
Belly Pan
Engine / Accessory Bar
Centre Stand
Vario Touring Screen (Suzuki)
and
Scot-oiler.
I'll most likely fit a Givi rack and top plate as I have a set of Givi luggage.

I'd welcome honest opinion of the accessory list particularly the screen (I'm 6'2") and any suggestions for extras I've overlooked such as a hugger.

Thanks
George

George,  :welcome:

Are you changing the Explorer for the V-Strom?

Give J&S a call in Doncaster and tell them they were recommended here, they were by far the best deal for me with lots of extras.

I had..

Full LUggage
Oxford Grips
Hand Guards
Belly, cowling, under thingy
Engine Bars
Centre Stand

£6,200 all parts fitted and on the road (the bike wasn't pre-registered).

I added the MRA Vario Screen afterwards  :thumb:

Swap the Scottoiler for a PD mini oiler.

Most reviews I've read say that there is next to no difference with the Suzuki vario screen compared to the "normal" one, so why pay extra for something that doesn't seem to be rated. Givi Airflow seems to be highly rated, if you decide it's needed after riding with the normal one. I'm about 6' 1" and like the normal screen on the lowest setting.

+1 for standard screen on lowest setting. Fancy 'in Your face' £130 screens never work for me, less is more.

I opted for Dr. Bike heated grips like some others on here. Made in same factory as Oxford and are half the price  :thumb:
