belly pan/under cowling
« on: August 01, 2013, 19:40:15 »
Hi blokes.
I'm thinking of getting a plastic belly pan/under cowling and am wondering if anyone has one they like or sudgest.  I don't do off road so metal is overkill really. I just want something to protect the filter an exhaust from the odd chipping and muck.

Thank you in advance

problem is that the metal is as cheap as the plastic - they seem very expensive don't they? - I quite fancy 'something' there too. not sure what thought.

Yes, I've looked at a few and the cheaper ones don't have fitting brackets which u have to buy, making them just as expensive or close.

the pyramid one looks interesting

Nope, not cheap at all. And the sv650 ones which fit cost the same

This is something that's been bugging me too. I want one, but they all seem seriously over-priced! I really want a nice aluminium one, but they're all more than I'm willing to pay for a bit of folded metal. Maybe next year I'll think about making my own...

Avoid the Moto Agora ones- had one, ruined it, gave it away, and glad to see it go.

crap quality- high price- stupid design that meant when I banked it in hard on a corner the engine guard would ground out. and it meant it was difficult to clean the engine.

the pyramid sv650 ones look good and I am thinking about one for day to day and put the metal one on for adventure days

that's my thinking too. I've got a sw motech metal one, great item, but to be honest its overkill atm. the worse I ride on is the gravel in the local garden centre lol. but one day I might fancy a turn of off road and I can just re attach it then

If garden centre gravel is the worst, get a mudguard extender and stop worrying about a little dirt that might get on your engine :) I have an aluminium bash plate and it gets dirty anyway (and I have a mudguard extender too.) Off road the alu guard is worth it, you know it is when you ground it out.
