leave charger plugged in?
« on: July 18, 2013, 22:25:51 »
I posted earlier about my son having left indicators on warning setting and battery dead

I have bought a relatively cheap charger that claims it will cut off when charged...
- BikeTek BCH-012
It has charged enough to start bike but the light on it says still charging

not being very good at mechanical stuff :

DO I leave it connected overnight

or

Disconnect?

If it is a low current bike charger it will be fine overnight

Technically yes, though in this weather if you don't desperately need the bike it might be safest to give it 6/8 hour bursts.  As a rule I don't leave on new/cheap elec. gear on overnight.  I've actually unplugged my Optimate as it says not to charge a hot battery.  It was stupid degrees earlier...(bike sits in sun).

A disgrace to biking...

or if the battery was that drained it might not properly recover and only hold 1/4 charge.

so did leave it on
another bike mate suggested drops off charge as it gets fuller so could take days
Went down in morning and was on green - charged

Seems fine now

I had assumed that my son leaving hazards on drained it but dealer I spoke to today said hazards don't work with keys out
tried it and seems to be true so no idea what drained it?

Perhaps you accidentally had park lights on without knowing it?
