Installed Width of Crashbars
« on: July 08, 2013, 14:08:43 »
Hi All,

Decided to get some crash bars on my bike after last weekend's fall... The place I park my bike is in a enclosed cycle shed (with bars to lock the bike to).. I would like to know the width of the crash bars to know whether I can get the bike inside the parking area... I would appreciate if you could get the tape measure out. Would be helpful if I can get the measurements for 2 or 3 different brands such as Suzuki, Givi and SW Motech...

Cheers,

krisv

Just measured my SW Motech crash bars, the high ones, not the lower Suzuki fitment ones. They come to 58-60cm, it's awkard to measure. I'd say they are no more than 5-6cm wider than the fairings. SW Motech bars are a good diametre (more than an inch?) and are some of the wider bars out there, I'd say. My rear pillion footpegs are 1-2cm wider than the crash bars when they are folded up so if you can get the rear pegs in there you should be fine with just about any crash bars.

Fantastic Juv, that's exactly what I needed. I can get the bike with the rear footrests folded out...

Thanks for the prompt reply...

Kris - I have Givi Bars on a K4, they are 34cm out from the middle of the fuel tank lid, so a 68cm span. Looks about the same as the pillion foot rests. As Juvecu said, hard to measure exactly.
