Hot seat when left in sun
« on: June 19, 2013, 08:52:02 »
Anyone got a favourite solution?

Where I am working now the bike is parked out in the sun all day. Any sunny day (few at the moment) and I'm getting roasted nuts on the way home.

I'm trying paper towels over the seat today.

a sheepskin actually works wonders :)

But yeah, anything covering the seat will do the job, so long as it's not black. The reflective car windscreen cover thingys should work nicely

Pour water on it before you start kitting up, should cooI it enough to sit on.

Trouble is it is a gel seat and the gel retains the heat, stays hot for over an hour. Would be great in winter.

When in hot countries I tend to chuck a towel or t-shirt over it.

An old towel, white to reflect the heat is better & pour water over it. The water evaporation will chill the seat/gel down. Does have to be kept wet though! If you can return to the bike every few hours or so it will work OK.

I use a motrax seat+ clocks cover up

Ebay 290537945033

Doubles up to keep dry in showers and cooler by reflection and pigeon stuff and packs really small - under seat or in box.
