Glee help
« on: June 12, 2013, 19:01:22 »
Can someone do me a quick favour ? I had new tyres fitted today and have noticed there is a very small gap between left hand side fork leg and the spacer which fits on the front wheel. I assume this is how it's meant to be as the shoulder of the front wheel bolt pushes against the spacer, can someone have a quick look at theirs ? Just never noticed it before. Cheers, Mick

I'm fairly sure there shouldn't be any gaps along the wheel spindle.

All the parts should be fairly tightly fitted to effectively clamp the wheel in place.

Here's a pic, the shiny bit is the shoulder of the axle, it pushes against the spacer as the hole isn't big enough for the shoulder to go through. Cheers, Mick

That's totally normal. And I am sure.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Not only is it correct it's essential for correct alignment. Most bikes have a size range for that gap to ensure the forks are straight and within spec.

The system allows the fork legs to naturally find the spot on the axle ends where they are parallel. It's the pinch bolt on the lower right, almost out of the picture, that fixes the fork leg in position.
