Torque Settings
« on: April 29, 2013, 17:21:38 »
Hi,

My SW Motech Glee Crashbars turned up today and I'm planning on fitting them this evening.

Does anyone know the correct torque settings for the eight M8 bolts that mount the bars to the frame?

The instructions say that if non is specified in the manual, to use 23Nm.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

23Nm is correct. It's listed at 35Nm in the service manual since the 2004 Wee came out and that's just wrong. People have broken bolts and stripped frame threads using it.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Pet hate of mine, incorrect values resulting in damage, I go with my gut now, if something just feels 'wrong' I stop applying the power and leave it..
