another hid question
« on: April 14, 2013, 09:30:28 »
Morning all , just fitted my hids on the glee only problem I have is with the rubber covers which fit on the back of standard bulbs to stop water getting in . Because of the size of the rear of the hid bulbs the cover won't go on , what has everyone else done to over come this ? cheers Mick

I fitted mine to the vee no probs. twist and unlock the metal bulb holder from the bulb unit. install the metal holder into the headlamp unit and secure it and put on the rubber cover. then put the hid light back into the metal bulb holder twist and lock. job done

I cut four radiating slits for the Futurevision lamps on my old bike and added silicone seal after installation. The VVME lamps with the removable ends I used on my new bike were much friendlier.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.

thanks that's what I've done  :ty: .Now I noticed on the way to work last night that when I switch back from high beam down to low beam the two indicator warning lights on the dash light up very briefly .What could be the cause ? only been happening since hids were fitted cheers Mick

That's caused by the solenoids that move the lamps. When the high beam is disengaged, the magnetic field collapses and induces a small current in the blinker wiring, enough to flash LEDs. People using headlight relays on stock bulbs have the same thing happen but going up or down as there is a relay for each.
