« on: April 03, 2013, 20:37:31 »
OK all, looked all through this great site using the search box. But, nowhere can I find what anyone thinks "should" be fair price to pay for a 14500 mile service.... Had one quote for a big £509.00........have tried to attach it to this site but so far no joy..... Any ideas blokes and girls, (and others)... :)

Just had mine done this January. The service was as listed (Labour £60, Oil £16, Filter £5, Air Filter £17, Plugs £13, Brake Fluid £2), with the valve check a "labour only £60". So about £174 plus the £35 VAT.

Done at an independent, not a main dealer.

Over £500 is a bit steep - the Guzzi costs less than that at a main dealer ! A good independent should be able to service it to a high standard for less than that. Shop around  :thumb:

If they just need checking and not changing then I would expect £200-£250 at an independant, £350+ at a franchised dealer.

Been to two more one main dealer one independent.
Main dealer wants £380 plus any parts saying 5 hours labour.
Private workshop £55 an hour 3 hours may be 4 hours. Plus any parts.

Seems Suzuki dealers are as some say modern day dick turpins...... :angry-tappingfoot:  :violence-uzi:

My main dealer does half price labour over the "winter" months - so my 14500 service was just £170 odds...

They offer the same deal at their Honda & Kawasaki francises as well. So far, its always been good dealing with them.

I see you live in Surrey, so why not get a quote from Steve Jordan's in Bookham. They used to be Suzuki main dealers (they deregistered last year as it was no longer financially viable) but all the staff are fully Suzuki qualified,  and as a customer there for several years now, I can confirm they are second to none. I think their labour rate is £55 per hour.

I've just booked my bike in for the 14500 service at B&B Suzuki the main dealer in lincoln and they quoted me £259+ VAT but it would cost more if valves need adjusting but they say that on first 14500 Service they are nearly always OK.

on 14.5k the valve clearance was all good. I skipped the 28k on and will do it in a few months when I hit the next major service.

Have not gone back to Steve Jordan's as with this cost it is over £200 more than anyone else in this part of Surrey....
Tis a shame as the last service they did was quick clean and well done

Crescents charged me 4 hours labour for the 14.5k service. I also didn't have the brake fluid or coolant changed or have an mot done at the same time. 2 hours for a brake fluid and coolant change seems very excessive. The oil also looks to be on the expensive side. All in all I think they well and truely took the piss.

What a rip off!

You'd be cheaper getting the genuine manuals and doing it yourself!

WTF is £6.80 sundries?? Such as?

The waste oil is a joke, they sell it, it doesn't cost them to dispose of it....

They probably charged you six hours labour inc. the time taken for the MOT, then charged you for the MOT on top.

My dealer was under 4 hours for the 14500 service inc fitting a rear sproket carrier bearing & fitting a new chain & sprockets. They also charge by the 1/4 hr...

I have to say I never paid that much even with the valves included in the service. The most expensive service I had was £400 but that included two new tyres.

The most expensive service I had was £200 which was my first service + an ECU fitting and certificate for insurance. I was not happy paying that but it needed done by someone who'd done it before. Now that the first one is done though , I will be doing the rest myself.

It should be noted that Suzuki do sell manuals for maintenance on the V 650 for about £60-70. the price of parts will be in the low £100s for a service.
