mileage to a tank
« on: October 14, 2014, 18:40:56 »
I know this probably has been discussed a million times before but I can't seem to find one .
What sort of mileage can I expect to get out of a tank on a  54 plate DL650 as I'm viewing one on Saturday . It will be my primary source of transport (if I buy it) .
Thanks in advance for any help , Marc .

Hi. I got a 55 plate Wee. From tank filled to just under the brim, to when the last bar starts blinking (its when I reset the trip meter) is usually around 170 to 180 miles depending on weather. Colder days, I let the engine warm up for bit while putting the helmet and gloves on. This equates to 15.something Litres.

I don't pootle about BTW.

Hope this helps.

I've got a K4 and have had it 10 years.

In all that time I have only topped 200 a few times, to a maximum of 226 but usually about 205.

I see the lights flashing around 180, just as KrisV said.

I've managed 72mpg on one tank (as reported by dash), and 42 on the next :)

The 72mpg was a boring, boring week & I fully acknowledge it reads optimistically. I cheated a little and reset the trip counter after getting up to 50 in 6th gear with a warm engine.

92mpg is my record. Mid 300s range if I take the pizz.

Lowest I've seen is 36mpg.
