dam LED sidelights!!!!
« on: April 19, 2013, 10:06:25 »
the LED sidelights look well when they actually work! flickering on and off as if a bad connection, now one has stopped working altogether. The original sidelights now won't work either. The connection where the bulb pushes into seems slack as if the terminals have been forced to wide by the LED ones!!!  ###

I had an issue similar but it was casued by me being a bit too firm when getting the bulb carriers out and pulling the cables back out the carrier a bit, ths meant the bulb didn't seat properly.  Push them back through and they are totally fine now!

Did you install a converter for them? Bulbs and LEDs work differently in that they draw different current. You need to put something before the bulb circuit so it will work as it should. Can't remember what type of bulbs the strom uses there but I'd guess it is a similar thing to indicator lights.

LED blinker lamps need a either resistor or an LED friendly flasher. LEDs that don't flash don't need anything to be changed. They wire in like stock bulbs. If neither the LED nor stock bulbs work, something happened with the wiring.

fiddled about with the connections so the LED bulbs were sitting nice and snug in the holder. they seem to be spot on now even if I nudge the wires/holder. fingers crossed that's them now. they are a bollox to get at, however it was my own fault for being too heavy handed the first time I put them in I guess
