DL650 Paint (K9)
« on: January 15, 2013, 22:12:11 »
Has anyone had any luck getting touch-up paint for the wee. I have a black (they might call this 'Constellation Black') K9 and am trying to find some touch-up for tank scratches.

Is there a color chart so I can be more specific about the 2010 color schemes?

lol, OK so I think I got my astronomy a bit mixed up. Looks like it might be called "Pearl Nebular Black"

I've used this chap on eBay before when I wanted some touch up for my fjr. It was a very good match and very reasonably priced compared to dealer prices.

K9 is the 2009 model year, by definition. The registration year isn't going to help find paint colors.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

It will be very hard to touch in black without it being sprayed . Easiest way to get a good match is to take the bike to a local auto paint supplier and they'll mix it to the colour ..

the black will be a Suzuki colour not a v strom colour so have a look at other models as well.

Suzuki blacks normally include a clear coat with tiny color chips embedded, sometimes silver and sometimes blue. A single color touch up is often obvious for missing that.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I guess it would have been too simple to have expected Suzuki to stock a touch-up pen (for motorbikes) the way they must do for their car range.

You can get a touch up pen from http://www.colorrite.com/product/Suzuki ... k-1729.cfm but I don't know about UK sources. I'm also not sure you have the correct color. 2009 colors may be different in the UK but K9s in the USA were only orange or grey on the tank, side cowlings and under the seat. YAY black was only used on the mudguard and cowling next to the windscreen.

I am going on the Product Identification card included in the Service Booklet and Warranty Booklet which identifies the colour as the following;

Colour
(Exterior): YAY
(Interior): Pearl Nebular Black

I guess the best thing to do is try to get the Colorite pen and try it on a non-visible part of the tank.

Thanks again.
