Good luck. Aftermarket and rewound stators have a history of early failure. Keep your oil level at the top mark to aid cooling. Just about very stator failure I've seen happened near the top.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Glad its sorted dxtans...News to me about why the coils overheat (suppose that parts obvious really) and stator failure, and another reason to keep oil level up!

Is this sort of wisdom collated in one place, Greywolf? On the stromtroopers site perhaps (I very rarely visit, don't know why  )?

It's all over the place. I have an index between my ears. Most of the index points to John Weldon (JohnofChar) posts at VSRI. The bit about failures mostly happening at the top of the stator is just something I realised recently after years of looking at pictures.
