DL1000 Service Kit & Chain and Sprocket set
« on: April 03, 2013, 20:00:32 »
Hello,

Seeking help please!

I'm coming up for a service, also need a new Chain & Sprocket set.

My mechanic has said that he has no problem with me purchasing all of the parts for the service and the chain/sprocket change and he will just charge the labour. He said that I should be able to save a fair few quid this was as there is no way he can be competitive through his suppliers with the ones on the internet. Sounds very fair to me!

Can anyone suggest a cheap but reliable source for the above? I could do with saving some cash, so it would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

Andy

Don't skimp on chain quality, hit ebay and the like but get a decent quality DID or similar chain. The Vee is a bit of a chain eater and a cheapie will wear out in no time. Hit the 'search' feature as this topic has been covered a lot, best of luck  :thumb:

Thanks mate, yea been looking at the DID ones on there, they are about £80-£90, much better than the £150ish like in the shops.

It's the service kits that I am a bit more confused at...

Thanks though, I'll keep researching!

Thanks chaps, I got this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190613170345? ... 1438.l2649

it was one of the few that made it clear that the sprockets were actually carbon steel.
