Wee or Vee
« on: October 05, 2012, 22:00:23 »
Hi all,

I have DL650 '09 and recently tested triumph tiger 1050 and loved the engine, brakes and the looks. though I am short on cash to swap mine for tiger.

So I have started looking for DL1000. The one I have found is http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280974367032?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

My question is: is vee that much different than wee?

Most of my miles are covered one up, in the town. Only some times I go out for a ride around the coutrty side.

Thanks for the advise

Kamil

I have owned Vee's and Wee's.

I now own the 1050 Tiger. Once ridden I was smitten  :shy:

Given the above statement, then I think the Wee is better suited for your requirements.

The Vee has a lot more punch and top end power, but uses more fuel (typically 40 to 45mpg), wears out rear tyres more quickly if you use the power, my be more lumpy at low engine speeds round town (mine isn't a problem though) and should be a bit cheaper to service as the valve clearances are easier to do. The best solution is to find a dealer with a good used one and go for a decent test ride. The one you have a link to looks OK and the price is probably about right for a dealer. It looks like the GT model which came with full luggage, centre stand, heated grips and hand guards all fitted as standard.

Fat rat - I am I love with it too ;). I can't remember what was on the clock but it was £6200 and I was offered £3k as par exchange for mine.

MPG is another factor I am thinking about. I avarage 58mpg. 45 is a bit low for me, but with the bigger engine it's about right.

What I may do is invest in better brake lines and pads. One more thing would be new full exhaust system. Any sugestions (cheap ish) if there is something like this. Maybe someone has something for sale
