What seat fits what?
« on: September 14, 2012, 21:11:20 »
I am not fussed about getting a gel seat etc, find the standard seat pretty comfy, however, the seat on my strom does not look very good.

My question, will any Vee seat fit any Vee?  the reason I ask is if a 2009 seat will fit a 2002 bike?

Ta muchly

All Stroms can use the same seats except for the Glee. the 2012+ 650 is the odd duck. It accepts no other seat and its seat will fit no other Strom.

Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

As Grey Wolf says, but I think they come in 3 heights:
Standard 650 saddle
Standard 1000 saddle (Plus 40mm compared to standard 650 saddle)
40mm up form standard saddle

They do come in different heights. Also, there is a gel set. At first, the Wee seat was the low seat for the Vee and the Vee seat was the tall seat for the Wee. The gel seat was somewhere between the two. Then, a tall seat was available that was taller than the Vee seat.

They are different heights but only by 20mm, the 650 is the 'stock' height, the Vee is +20mm from the 650 and the tall touring seat is +20mm from a Vee or +40mm from a Wee.
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

At the risk of upsetting the apple cart...

I bought a Corbin for my 04 Wee when I had it. When I (had to) move that bike on I sold it to raggydan. Apparently it wouldn't fit his later Wee (an 07 ABS I think)..

So Suzuki-made seats it's all as the Wise Greywolf says, other makes be careful...
No bike at present.......

In 2007, the placement of the hooks for helmet cables changed and the coolant overflow reservoir got moved to the back of the fuel tank. The rubber blocks on Corbin seats then hit the hooks. Those not using the hooks cut them off and some Corbin seats still had the front anchors run into the coolant overflow tank. Cutting the anchor projections a little shorter fixed that but required removing the leather pads and redoing some kind of buffer for the steel core anchors.

Later Corbin seats were adjusted to fit both models.
