Hello I'm Luke new to the site, new to riding
« on: September 11, 2012, 12:12:17 »
Hi all,

I recently passed my direct access, I got fed up with the commute to work in the car. I have just bought an 09 Vstrom and I'm loving it.

I'm completely new to bikes and would love some pointers on maintenance etc.. Can anyone tell me where I can buy manuals?

Thanks in advance,
Luke

Life isn't about waiting for the strom to pass.... it's about learning to dance in the rain

Hello Welcome to the club, I passed last month and bought a bike on sunday.

I am in the same boat as you and posted similar questions:

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=14828

I think one of my questions I still want answered if about security. ie how much do people spend on a chain and lock...

Hi &  :welcome:

Re locks, if they want they'll have it whatever you put on it.  I lock the steering and occasionally use my disc lock. My bikes have the disc locks on at night and the garage is locked but I do live in a relatively low crime area out in the sticks.

As for locks/chains , you won't get better chains than these http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/ ... ts/c-1-73/  together with a padlock http://www.discountlocks.co.uk/Squire-H ... ss65cs.htm
Most will walk away if they see these fitted ....The downside is the weight !

Hi luke  :welcome:

The Oily Rag section is the place to go for maintenance tips and manuals etc...

Since you are new-ish to biking you might not have stumbled across this site yet:

http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcyc ... disc-lock/

webbikeworld is worth an explore, the link takes you to locks and alarms etc
