Hello
« on: September 10, 2012, 16:21:49 »
Hello all,

I'm Martin and live in Hampshire. I have a 2008 DL650 in black, which I have owned since new. I use it mainly for my 70 mile commute on a daily basis. Currently have 33k on the clock.

I found this forum by searching the net for a problem I have. Probably should post this elsewhere in the forum, but as I'm new here I'm sure you nice people will let me off?

I have intermitent indicators, no left indicator, some right indicator, no 4 way hazzards. I've looked at the fuse, bulbs, left hand bar switch gear, and my thought process was it must be a switch or connection issue somewhere as it works sometimes.

So I looked on the net and found some of our V-Strom buddies in the States that harped on about a difficult to reach yellow switch connector block positioned behind the radiator. So I've stripped the bike down, all fairings, fuel tank and airbox ... (Seems mental for an indicator problem) and have found the said block ..... anyway ... it all looks fine to me .... what do I need to do, strip it and check connections? Clean, WD40 it?

Anyway cheers in advance

Martin

Type Yellow Connector in the search box at the top right of the main page and you will get all the info you need on this "slightly unreliable" connector.

Thanks everyone,

However, I've gone through everything now and have finally identified it to the LH gear indicator switch, have tried to fiddle around with the actual switch unit within the gearhub, but its all sealed and bits of plastic with a small ball bearing and a spring.

I cleaned out and tested the yellow connector, all was working well with power to all points.

I've managed to find a replacement on eBay and this will hopefully fix the matter .... if not I'll cry ... then start again :)

Life isn't about waiting for the strom to pass.... it's about learning to dance in the rain
