2.   does the wire with a 30amp fuse half way down it have to be connected directly to the battery as the lead is very short if it does....

OK so the lead that has the fuse on it then, I need to extend it. I can cut out the 30amp fuse and place the same fuse into the PC8? Then I just extend the wire down to the PC8. what gauge of wire would I need coming from the HID wiring harness controller to the PC8? this wire in the link below:

specifically: 56/0.30, 4.0mm2, 39.0A - cable OD 3.7mm (12gauge)

1.3mm diameter conductor wire is plenty. All the stuff I saw on the linked page is overkill if that is conductor diameter. That's correct on the fuse treatment assuming the inline fuse fits the PC8.

I thought I would of needed 12 gauge wire going from the PC8 to the HID kit my apologies. What wire would I need to buy then off that link. the outer diameter of the wire is 3mm.

I don't know how to read those specs. 16AWG or 1.29mm conductor diameter is what I would want.

16/0.2 is 20 AWG
32/0.2 is 17 AWG
28/0.3 is 15 AWG
44/0.3 is 13 AWG
56/0.3 is 12 AWG

this is from another post on here. they don't have 16awg but they have 15awg which would do the same imagine, I would be able to use the 15awg for accessories like usb charger and 12v charger then as well.

17AWG would be okay too. I like going a little heavier than specified and 18AWG is typical for such use.

will go for the 17 awg then.

There is no need to run two wires. Just connect the two black wires and run one wire from that connection to the PC8 negative terminal.
thanks for your help again.

sorry last question:
what way is best then to connect the ends of the 3 wires? solder the two negative terminals and splice the extension wire into one of the black negative wires? what gauge would I need for the negative wire?

You're over thinking this. 17 or 18AWG is good for all the HID wiring. Any way you get a good connection for all the earth wires is fine. On mine, I cut off the terminals and stripped the two wire ends, twisted them together and twisted on the extension wire. Then a little rosin core electrical solder and a piece of heat shrink tubing finished the connection.

just installed my HID lights there this evening after passing my MOT. Just want to make sure on one thing though, The half cover/reflector should be at the bottom on the light, on the underside of the light. heres what the beam pattern looks like on dipped..is this about right? was going to take it to a local garage and see how it is on the headlight alignment machine.
