Not all Suzukis go fast
« on: July 11, 2012, 21:08:02 »
Got stuck behind a Suzuki SWIFT tonight, doing about 25mph.  Who thinks of these names?
If it moves, glue it.  If it doesn't, hit it

Top Gear presented that particular motor with the "most inappropriately named car of the year" award.

My wife had one too, hours of fun ...

I take it the hours of fun took place in the 1/4 mile drag race. lol

I'm not clear on whether the timer used was an hourglass or a sundial.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.

I think that they do a Sport version in red which looks quite good. Almost bought one when I got my Mini and still think that they look cool(ish). Do they still cost two bob? Probably not, as even modest cars seem to be around £15k these days. I looked at a medium sized Ford estate car the other day and it was close to £20k!
I can’t go back, I won’t go back
I’d love to go back but I mustn’t do that

Didn't know you were familiar with this particular transport abomination in the USA Greywolf.

The "hours of fun" were what I got taking the piss out of it. My Wife had a 2001 model, which was very crap. She could always tell when I got in it as it went even slower. It had 25% of the displacement and 20% of the power of my car and I kept reminding her too .... This was her first car, basically to use for three years and get the insurance down, before she switched to a Corolla.

Having said that, from 2004 onwards, this is a much redesigned and much better car.

Martin, is it true you took it on a trackday and every time you passed the pits they held a calendar out?

The old Swift was sold as a Geo(Chevrolet) Metro in the USA.
