Genuine Suzuki Crash Bars - a question
« on: July 10, 2012, 10:12:38 »
Does anyone know if crash bars designated for a '09- '11 DL650 will fit an earlier (2004) bike?
Did Suzuki change the frame at all during the model run?!

Do the other manufacturers of crash bars specify years?
Ride safe,

There have been no frame changes to the 650 as far as bolt positions regardless of year. Even the 2012 can use crash bars from any manufacturer for any year. The only possible exception would be for a front crossbar possibly interfering with the optional lower cowling and I have yet to hear of any problems even in that area. Skid plates can be crash bar specific though.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Thanks both. That's pretty much what I thought: these engine bars are black.
But that's what I would have preferred anyway...

my 3yo Suzuki engine bars are part black, part rust - shoddy finish on them

There is a powder coater at thorp arch industrial estate that will blast and powder coat those for you for about 20 quid and a packet of golden virginia

Done bars for me as well as rear racks, cheap and very good. Even colour coded a rentec rack in metallic grey to suit my 955 wheels.
