Speed Sensor Lubrication Without Wheel Removal?
« on: June 10, 2012, 10:03:28 »
I'm getting the telltale noise of a speedo sensor needing a lube-up.  Not planning to take the front wheel off for another 25000 miles..... anyway of greasing the little bugger without wheel removal?

You have to take the wheel off to get the sensor off and take it apart to grease it.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.

Do you really think you are going to get 25,000 miles out of a front tyre? More to the point, do you really consider taking the front wheel off a difficult job?

lol   Strommer is an unholy mix of optimist (25, 000 miles from a front tyre) and pessimist (taking the front wheel off will be problematical) ...

Or just feeling a bit lazy cos it's Sunday! :)

It is a difficult job if you have to do all your work outside on a sloping, crumbling footpath.  Last week reversing the axle was a difficult job as halfway through the job the stand punched a hole in the path and bike went over - caught by my female weightlifter neighbour (the bike not me).   :shy:

You could ask here if anybody in your area has a place you can use for a little while to do the work. Maybe your neighbour can hold up the front end long enough to do the job.
