Old tyres ?
« on: April 08, 2012, 09:50:18 »
Hi,
Just bought my Wee, 06 with 2200 miles on her !  Tyres original, would you sling them and replace due age ? They appear good, plenty of tread, can't see any cracking. My head says sling them !!
                                            Cheers.

If you have any concerns replace them, the original tyres are not very good anyway.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

Use them until they are knackered, should only have about another 1000 left in them anyway.

If they're trailwings, they're not good tyres anyway.
If a few years old, even worse.
Personally I'd replace them.

Listen to the voices in your head, just don't get into a conversation with them ! Anakee's are the way to go or if you never venture off road Pilot Road 3's seem to be a top choice  :thumb:

I'll take them off your hands if you do decide to swap them. Personally the only reason I change tyres is if they are worn out.

No tyre should ideally be used over seven years old so if it's an 06 chances are the tyres are 05 or 06 anyway..

I'd get a set of Anakees PR3s, Tourances or whatever on there soon - they're your contact with the road...
No bike at present.......

Gone for the PR3s from John Coopers in Derby. They been good for tyres over the years.
