My good lady has become a biker!!
« on: April 06, 2012, 01:27:35 »
Well mt good lady Tina has actually taken the plunge and bought her first bike last weekend, a beautiful new cbr125r. I must admit its a fantastic looking bike and a very nimble machine to ride Honda really have tried to ditch the skinny 125 look from the bikes and have done a fantastic job sitting on the older model after the new just hammers home how narrow and tiny it was the new model is just a smaller but perfectly proportioned bike right down to the tyres. I got the job of bringing it home from the dealership and apart from me being far too big it was a hoot to ride and suprisingly quick, I was at 80 mph ( indicated ) on a flat road without having to wring its neck.
We got just over 300 miles knocked up over the weekend together and I was loving it, just cruising along at 60 on the strom in total comfort, not really bothering with any gears apart from 5th &6th, eating up corners and watching Tina get used to it all and imporve by leaps and bounds every mile was great.
I really didn't think it would be a big deal her having a bike its totally rekindled my want to be out on the roads again all the time.

Hence me saying "WITHOUT HAVING TO WRING ITS NECK"

just following along the carrigeway with traffic in top gear the revs were not too high. Honda said as long as your not taking the piss it will be fine. The handbook says for running avoid full throttle starts and hard acceleration for the first 500 miles.

Plus on that topic there is a thread kicking about here dealing with the whole running in procedure of a new engine and the author of that supplies a lot of evidence that a very hard run in is better for the engine than taking it easy.

need to get a few pics of the bike and Tina up. if I can get her to sit still long enough!!!!!

congrats. I remember picking up my 125 , spent 200 miles just going round and round an round my village at 30 to ease her In. The dealer did say though don't be afraid to open her up for a little bit if you need to get out of a dangerous situation or something. As long as you go back down to reduced speed after.  I loved my 125, quick ish , very easy to ride and comfy. If I could have afforded it I would have kept her as well as my wee
I'm sane, honestly. . . I got a certificate to prove it!

Always a great move to have SWMBO on your wavelength with the bike. Mrs baz tarred passed her test 4 years ago now and bought a cbf 600 which she adores, we,ve been on three trips to europe together and to be honest I have my work cut out to stay with her on the twisties now. If I can offer one piece of advice it would be to invest in a good quality bike to bike intercom, it does wonders for the confidence just to be able to stay in touch for both of you.
