question about monokey pannier rack
« on: October 13, 2011, 17:48:40 »
Hi
Can somebody who has Givi monokey pannier rack (PL542) tell me if it is symmetrical? I mean, is there a gap on the left hand side that equals the space for the exhaust on the right?
thanks

It is slightly closer to the centre of the bike on the non-exhaust side. Have a look at Locksmiths pics in the Ardcases thread in Dealer/supplier feedback

Probs an inch or 2 difference.

Yes have a look at the thread that Bencavs pointed out . There is about 45mm difference , I had my panniers made different sizes to even it out and it looks OK ..

I have the givi pl532 rack fitted on my bike. its for the e series panniers. I have enough room to put in a 4"tool tube on the side opposit the exhaust. the sides are not totally symetrical, but don't look that bad really
I'm sane, honestly. . . I got a certificate to prove it!

Thanks
I am going to get givi trekkers and didn't know if I should go for 2 x 33 Litres or one 33 and one 45 Litres, if the rack is not symetrical I will go for the small one and the big one
Thanks a lot

Get the 33/45 combo - it would look odd if they were the same size.

Stick a pic up when you get them, I quite like the look of the trekkers. Have you seen the cheaper Kappa trekkers?

Hi longman, I fitted the Givi PL542's to my Wee just before Stromtrekkers II

You're welcome to come over and check them out up close if you want, just call or PM me... :thumb:

I will do,
I found the trekkers cheaper than kappa so I will go with the givi ones:) (they second hand but hardly used)
