It really is a beautiful place, I'm on holiday for a week next month, and we're not leaving the country, we're going north for a week.

Come up for a run sometime.

Oldie,
I didn't even realise there was another saints fan outside Paisley never mind riding a Wee. What were the chances?  :sarc:
I think Indiana is referring to the Yorkhill Easter Egg Run. Is that right Indiana?

Off topic, but wth, nobodys watching - favourite Saints moment- when we beat Rangers 1-0 at Love St in the early 70's on a day so foggy that you could only see 50 yards or so. The large gers travelling support at the Caledonia St end suddenly fell silent and everyone started to wonder what was going on, only to see Hugh Gilshan appearing out of the gloom looking like a demented lunatic (he'd just scored) and that's when we went mental..ha ha...what a day

OK lets make it a saints thread  :neen:
Oldie you must be as your name suggests. Favourite game. Must have been new years day 76 or 77 at Cappielow. Saints won 6-3 with Donnie McDowell being sent off with the Morton Keeper. Alex Ferguson was the manager and we went on to win the 1st division that season. Ahhhhh the good old days.

I'm up there on the 15th to 19th of July with my mate. Were heading up to Invergarry for the first night, then onto Kylesku and then looping around the Northern coast and back down to Aveimore then home. Should be a hoot and I may see some of you out & about   :thumb:

Right, I'm assuming that no-one from anywhere else is now reading this thread.

I just looked at Scudnut's post about his run to the famous Boxhill. I've been hearing about Boxhill in bike mags etc for as long as I can remember. I wondered exactly where it was, so I looked. It's not far from the M25, south-west of London.

That's a good bike run? It's my idea of busy commuter hell. I can't imagine how hellish it must be owning a bike in a part of the country that is one massive traffic hold-up. I drive around there when I'm working sometimes - it's not pleasant.

If I had to live there I suspect I would sell my bike and use the money to try to move somewhere less populated.

Thank you God, once again, for letting me live in Scotland.

I have to agree with you Fat Belly. We are really spoilt living up here. When we see more than half a dozen cars in front of us we think we are in a traffic jam  ###

Very true you Scot's have been gifted with a beautful country. I rode the coast 18 months ago. Up the East, across the top and down through the lochs, it absolutley blew me away and I fell in love with the place. I stopped at J O'Groats and was going to camp nearby, I got there early and hated the place, all set up to take your money (reminded me of home). I jumped on the bike and headed West to Tongue, in fact I ended up in a place called Crask Inn (googlemap it), not even a TV signal, a bed for the night in the ranger's house, a Salmon pie meal and 2 pints for £27 though. I even went for a walk the next morning before moving on.

I had to head West again as I'd turned South too soon and wanted lots of them West coast roads I'd bee told about.
I don't think anywhere in England comes close to the beauty of Scotland and I didn't meet anyone I wanted to punch either (an everyday occurance here).

I'd love to ride some of the Scottish Islands and hear some of your biking experiences on the Isles.

Gretna was great , I popped over to England for a McD's, heard Michael Jackson died five days ago and married my bike the next morning. (I've nothing against Wacko by the way).

Unfortunatly where I am I have to make the most of what I've got, in Lewisham I'd head out to Kent, not as pretty as Devon but much better safer riding.

Boxhill for me now is great for a bacon baggette, talking bollox and ogling bikes, then I head South to explore Surrey, It's the most wooded county in England don't you know?

Not sure about living in London without a bike though mate, it's the only way to get around stress free.

Sorry to go on a bit.

A bit    :neen:   Good narative, allway's nice to hear how other people get their biking kicks  :thumb:

P.S. Northumberland is England's least populated County - relatively quiet, great roads and virtually no Police (no bike cops !). And civilisation when you want it   :thumb:

Actually, when I think about it you are of course right. A bike would be essential in London because of the traffic, but you still won't get anywhere quickly.

Just for info, I've had a bike on most of the Islands (but not Shetland). Some don't have enough roads to make it worthwhile to take the bike but I reccommend these:

Islay
Mull
Orkneys
Western Isles (mostly joined by causeways)
Skye (bridge=free)
and of course Arran, which is smallish but smashing and not so far away.
