Re-seal givi topbox!?
« on: September 02, 2010, 13:26:54 »
After these heavy rains recently I have found my 45l givi topbox leaks alittle now! There is a thin rubber seal in the lid section (female) that the edge of the bottom section (male), the seal appears quite compressed and I guess that is what allows rain in!
So...anyone had this problem...do I rip out rubber seal and try to replace? Fill up female slot with silicon and hope that seals(and shuts!) or.....???

 Ideas and thoughts please!

Try some autoglym rubber renovator, I used to have a leak on the roof seal of my Z3 a couple of years back and this stuff sorted it out, seemed to bring back the "springyness" of the seal and it worked a treat :)

If you need to replace try an old pushbike inner tube cut into a thin strip and super glue it in.

Just been in local bike shop they checked out my monolock e45 givi topbox and phoned givi uk and ordered me another seal for £2.20 !!! Its that easy..cheaper than a tube of silicon!

 Cheers all

Tried to refit the seal with the lid still connected, difficult!!....is there an easy way of removing the lid so I can refit the seal properly.

Thanks
