1st Thoughts and Loads of Questions
« on: June 09, 2010, 20:01:59 »
Well I like it! Especially the grunt. It's a hoot, Battlewing tyres seem fine especially on a couple of bends on the A272 where I had my boots decking out

First thoughts, after a 130 mile ride back from the dealer, plenty of grunt(did I mention that), comfortable riding position, it's so good to be back on a big trailee, but a lot of wind noise, I may have to look for an aftermarket bigger screen.

What are the can options? I would love to hear a bit more of that v twin, not so noisy as to attract to much (fed) attention, but I'm sure you now what I mean.

I'm getting an occasional bit of harsh vibe from the gearbox, may be chain/spocket related I'll keep you informed. When I check it all over in the next  couple of weks.

No problems with the height issues,

I don't think I need a lowering link for the suspension, it certainly feels wide with the panniers on, on the NT700 I used the cat whiskers principle, not sure on the DL, do the panniers stick out more than the bars?

Has anyone mounted a Zumo? if so where to you take the power from?, same for the autocom?

Also has anyone done an HID headlamp conversion, I have done this on the last two bikes, but these had seperate bulbs for main and dip.

Nice bike I like it.

Sounds like a happy bunny, no surprises there.  :thumb:

Wind noise, did you try opening your visor.

Also, before you spend out on a different screen, try moving yours.

Popular mods also are mirror extenders and aprilia mirrors (see other thread about those) to stop turbulence/ wind noise.

I nearly fell off the bike after my first 77 mile ride, thought , what have I done. But I moved the stock screen , put some washers in the bottom to tilt it a wee bit (it is only a wee bit) , and I love it. I have a big touring givi screen, but don't get on with it.
The same solution doesn't seem to work twice in a row though, but I would suggest fiddling with what you have before paying for anything else (ooer matron)

Great to see you enjoying and hell yes the panniers stick out way further than the bars ;) think about it this way, how often are you going to ride with them on, once mine have been on an that was ride back from dealers ;)

An IMO you won't need HID conversion, the standard lights are some of the best on any bike ;)

Errrr..... yes you can get Scorpion for the DL1000 & plenty of other choices.
Think you're refering to 650 Quoman.

As for power for accesseries - I've fitted a cigarette socket under the seat & one on the fairing as well. Both got off ebay, the front one is marine waterproof & 2 metres of wire @ £10. :thumb:
