Seems like a brilliant idea but I can't imagine the tape would stay on for long. I wonder if it really does work, why a manufacturer hasn't thought of it yet? Good find though.  :thumb:

I did think of an 'encased chain' but then it wouldn't last long like you say. Moreover there'd be loads of discarded tape all over the roads and verges if it was an acceotable solution.

It would be good to see a real experiment but I can't see the tape lasting more than a kilometer or two.........
So how's it going so far then?

I put ACF50 on the side of my chain and it seems to help.  :thumb:

Must admit I use duck oil to clean chains (which keeps the sides rust free) and then wipe off with rag before applying a chain lubricant spray.

The only fluid that Suzuki recommend for cleaning chains is plain paraffin,it is oil based and has no additives/solvents that can harm the O-rings that spray cans have in them to make the spray work, and it mixes easily with the new oil applied to the chain afterwards. This is what I use along with chainsaw oil in my Loobman Chain-oiler,which is surprisingly thin and runs through the oiler nozzles quite easily.

It is a cute idea, pity he didn't show the chain after riding it. Hmmmm
I suspect bits of the shredded tape would end up wrapped round the o rings destroying them.

An encased chain only works if it keeps oil in and crap out.
That method just keeps both in which should create a nice grinding paste.
It's a not from me Bob ;), I'll stick with a chain oiler.

This came up as a short on youtube, others have included when to change your tyres which had no refernce to tread depth (??????). They are usually States origin and labelled up 'This bloke is a genius!'

er, no.
So how's it going so far then?
