OBD plug on a 2010 ABS 650?
« on: February 27, 2025, 16:30:25 »
Been trying to plug a Healtech OBD S01(Suzuki fit) to my AL0 650 and can't get it to fit any plug! I have the side cover off on the clutch lever side and looking just to the side of the battery. Have a 4 pin white plug with a rubber cover and an 8 pin plug (with only 6 used) which is black. The OBD tool has a 6 pin white connector,
Am I looking in the wrong place or was there different connectors used on some years?

Is it possible you need an obd/ canbus adapter cable? (Don't even know if your model is canbus)

Think I just found it!Under the back of the tank on the rear brake side (left hand side), 6 pin white connector that the OBD plugs into.

For the dealer mode connector, have a look at https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,7061.0.htm.

To me, buying an OBD for diagnostics on the K4 - L0 models Wee is not necessary. The onboard dealer mode code display is normally enough to give a clue of where to start tracking down any fault indicator warning light.

An extract from a Healtech discussion on Stromtooper, "I received that same response to my email in 2019 ("...planning to update this year or next..."). I was asking if they could incorporate the ABS pump actuation function with the existing OBD-S01 hardware (I.e. only a software update). Based on the response you received; it sounds like their proposed product update will only be to introduce a new tool to communicate with the SDS-II protocol. Not likely to get an update to the OBD-S01 tool to incorporate ABS actuation.."

Thanks for that, the healtech didn't cost me anything so no problems there.
It doesn't do ABS purging according to Heatech, as you say, but I'm planning on doing a TB balance with it and afaik it can help with that.
