Hi

My cruise control for my 800RE has arrived from Canada, and will have a fun weekend (sic) trying to fit to the bike, What fun!

Canada you say?

It must be a Veridian system then? If I may offer a smidgen of advice, add an accessible USB cable to the unit before putting all the bodywork back on. I fitted aa Veridian cruise to my KTM, all was fine until I noticed a very slight surging sensation when the cruise was operational. I contacted Veridian (brilliant communications and support) who sent me updated firmware in an Email, it was loaded onto the module and the surging has gone.

Needless to say I didn't add a cable when I first fitted it, consequently I had to remove all the bodywork and fuel tank to attach the cable.

I've never had cruise on a 'bike before, the boring slogs are much more comfortable with it fitted. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Hi

Just a quick update on the installation of the VC cruise control.

Following the video and written instructions its not too bad, I have completed approx. 60% and the hardest part was getting the tank off.

The wiring in of the unit I have left till Monday, but here are a couple of pictures of a semi-naked 800RE!

Cheers

Hi

The last picture refuses to be uploaded, so have chosen another one.

The new Givi Airflow screen works well for me, as well!

Looking good Crazyhorse.
All those connectors without a waterproof cover are triggering me though after the electrical issues I had on mine due to water ingress  . Might be worth covering them whilst the tank is off  :thumb:

Looks like it might be a bit of a nightmare to do the valve clearances as well.

The tank faffing the first time on any bike is rather testing. Still it's a good time to add the USB cable then you can route it with an easier access than tank removal. :thumb:

Great work, be interesting to see how well it works, good thing about the 800 is you don't need to remove the tank to change the air filter.
I'd be waterproofing those electrical connections as well just in case the old problems return on this model.
Valve clearances I'll leave to someone else.

Just spotted, is that the abs unit on top of the engine , just behind the headstock, or just a splitter? Might be best to keep an eye on regular fluid changes if it is going to get hot?

Hi

No further progress has been made, as I was captured by the family, and hauled off screaming to a get together, but I shall return to it tomorrow!

UK V-Strom 650
The connectors I have opened and looked at are of the waterproof type, but I have not checked them all!

Yes that looks like the ABS pump, and it is mostly protected by the coolant radiator, but might put a bit of innertube around it as well.

Hello

Refitted the battery this morning after refitting the fuel tank and took the bike for a test ride.

It all seems to work well, in a short ride time, but it will need a longer evaluation over many miles to get a full idea how it works for me.

But at this moment I am very happy :lala: bunny!

Now to put all the fairing bits back on tomorrow, hopefully without braking any bits!

Cheers

Looks like a great upgrade, did your insurance company want any money for the change ?
