Saddle height and comfort
« on: September 04, 2023, 21:58:05 »
Hi everyone, I got my 650 vstrom yesterday and it’s brilliant. The only downside is I find the seat a little low and a bit too firm for my delicate little bum🤣I can’t afford to have the seat re-upholstered (I’m only a poor pensioner y’know😢) So, I am wondering if any of you good people use or have tried a seat cushion (like the ‘Comfortair’ or similar?) Please let me know your thoughts if you have👍😀

When I got my 650 last year, I found the seat a bit uncomfortable after about 1-11/2 hours.
I found an air hawk helped.
Interestingly I put a lower seat on a few months ago and it's made it much more comfy, hardly any numb bum on our recent tour in the Alps/Germany/Ardennes.
Suspect the different ergonomics have made a difference.

Yes the air seat works,  you only need a minimal amount of air and it spreads the load so to speak.  I  always felt a little disconnected from the bike though so have now fitted a mesh cover. So far so good,  it feels a little more cushioned and I can definitely spend longer in the saddle, even on the plank of a 1050 seat. It's probably slightly higher but only marginally.

Just seen the pics of your bike. A  gen1 1000 seat will go straight on and give you more height and padding.  I had an early 1000 and it was all day comfy. Nice 650 by the way.

I had a 650 for a number of years (excellent) and initially had the same issues as you seat wise.
The solution for me was as @Pannier down has posted.
Fitted the higher seat that was standard on the DL1000 and problem solved.

The Kawasaki KLV seat will fit also up to a K9 650.I fitted one and it was really comfy with the bonus it was higher.
