Unfortunately as far as I know its behind the clutch cover.  I'd live with it till it's not working at all!

Hah, mine flickers around on my 650, I've not got round to looking at it yet. Normally flickers between 1st and 2nd when in 1st gear, but I saw 3rd whilst in 1st the other day too. Waiting for service day when the oil has drained to clean the contacts up a bit.

Under warranty I'd get it looked at by Suzuki, you may get a free oil change out of it!

Is access to the GPS of the 1050 as simple to access as for the L2+ 650 (Glee) models?

I was looking at the video in reply #10 of https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=40018.msg410786#msg410786, which was said to be a possible solution for the Glee.  A usesful aid for the video language barrier is discussed in reply #11 of the same link "Click the little settings icon on the video -> Subtitles/CC -> Auto Translate"

If the gear posn switch (GPS) is located in the same location on the 1050, I'd think that the clutch slave cylinder may possibly be an obstacle for easy access?

Mine suffers from this too.  If I'm in 5th, then it flickers between 5 and 6.  Only after it's warmed up a bit.

I believe it's case of taking it off and giving it a good clean out with WD40.  Otherwise it's £130 for a new sensor.

Mines a 2014 1000 AL4.

Well Gert, in the video he doesn't seem to suggest he drained the engine oil, nor does Keith60 in that thread. Maybe it's not necessary. I may have a look a bit sooner and will get back to you about whether I got covered in oil
